Do you often feel sore throat, difficult to
swallow, headache, fever and loss of voice? This situation if often happens
will certainly interfere with our daily activities.
Prof. DR. Dr. Suprihati, Sp THT-KL (K) MSc.
Explain some of the above health disorders, tend to lead to the occurrence of
tonsillitis or also called tonsillitis is inflammation in the tonsils caused by
viral or bacterial infections.
These bacteria or viruses enter the body
through the nose or mouth and the tonsils act as filters enveloping harmful
organisms with white blood cells This will cause a mild infection of your
tonsils, which will trigger the immune system to form antibodies to the
nfections in the future come.
However, sometimes the tonsils are
overwhelmed with bacterial or viral infections. This is what causes
tonsillitis. Excessive excessive tonsils often cause acute infections such as
painful swallowing, snoring, stop breathing during sleep, lethargy and
difficulty thinking. To ascertain if your tonsils are infected then you can
undergo a throat swab test.
With this simple test, your doctor will rub a
kind of sterile gauze on the back of your throat to get a saliva sample. This
test is not painful, but it can cause you a little choked. Samples that have
been taken will be checked in the lab to see whether or not there is a
streptococcal bacteria. Test results can be seen in minutes or hours, depending
on the test method used. If the test shows positive results, you need to take
antibiotics to treat the infection you are experiencing.
If the tonsils are not great enough to drink
antibiotics alone can heal itself even though there are manifestations of
fever. In more severe conditions there will be abscesses or severe pain,
swallowing pain, unable to speak even to ngeces. In this condition can be given
antibiotics and in remove pus. If in the future the abscess recurs again it is
recommended for surgery. One of the causes of the occurrence of tonsils is a
factor of poor sanitation.
Therefore to prevent it can be done with
frequent hand washing. When using soap and water wet hands with warm running
water and use liquid soap or clean bar soap, rub until frothy. If soap and
water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Pour about ½
teaspoon of cleaning material into your hands.
Rub your hands together, so that the cleaning
fluid smears the surface of your hands, until the liquid is dry. In addition
you can also familiarize yourself when coughing or sneezing use your tissue or
arm. Do not use drinking glasses and cutlery to get together. Avoid being close
to a sick person. Find a daycare practice practicing hygiene policy and ask
that sick children stay home.
